About NCE
The story, mission and people behind the New Community of Hope.
Our Mission
Transforming community through the love of Christ.
The primary mission of Nouvelle Communauté de l'Espérance (NCE) is transforming the community through the love of Christ by establishing ministries of prayer and worship, outreach and training leadership in restoring justice, and promoting community development and relief activities.
Prayer is viewed as a direct line of communication with God, allowing believers to express their adoration, confession, thanksgiving and supplications. Worship helps foster this connection by reminding them of God's greatness, love and faithfulness — drawing believers closer to their Creator.

Why We Exist
Breathing, but not living — until hope arrives.
The New Community of Hope (NCE) exists because people in Eastern DRC live amidst unfinished wars, deep trauma and suffering. Many ask: "Why am I here, breathing but not living?" NCE, through its founder and dedicated staff, is committed to providing relief and hope, offering answers through prayer, evangelism, development, leadership and justice.
NCE exists as a hub of refuge and holistic care for war-torn communities in Eastern DRC. For over three decades, people have endured violence, displacement and insecurity. NCE provides relief to the wounded and fosters transformation by addressing both visible and invisible vulnerabilities — especially among women, children and marginalised families.

Our Journey
History
Founding of the first local church
Pastor Euclide Mugisho and his wife Liliane began their ministry journey after moving from South Kivu to Goma. Their first church became the foundation for a growing community dedicated to prayer, worship and service.
Three decades of relief amid conflict
For over three decades, communities in Eastern DRC — including those served by NCE — have endured violence, displacement and insecurity.
Three local churches founded
NCE is made up of three local churches, located in the Masisi territory and in the city of Goma, with more than 700 members.
Primary & secondary schools serving 800 children
The primary school reaches 600 children and the secondary school 200 children (2025 figures).
New church & classroom construction
Concrete block construction is underway for a new church building and additional classrooms to host more children.

Founder
Pastor Euclide Mugisho Mushengezi
Founder, Nouvelle Communauté de l'Espérance (NCE)
Pastor Euclide Mugisho Mushengezi founded Nouvelle Communauté de l'Espérance out of a calling to bring the love of Christ to communities living amid the unfinished wars, displacement and trauma of Eastern DRC. Under his leadership, NCE has grown into a community of three local churches serving Goma and the Masisi territory.
Leadership vision: to transform communities through the love of Christ by establishing ministries of prayer and worship, outreach and leadership training, restoring justice, and promoting community development and relief.
Ministry calling: a sustained commitment to serving communities through faith, education, healthcare, leadership development, evangelism, and humanitarian outreach — carried out today through NCE's churches, schools, Centre Médical Bethel, and the Esther Project.
Family
A Family in Ministry Together
Pastor Euclide Mugisho Mushengezi is married to Liliane. Together they are blessed with three children — two boys and one girl — and share a common commitment to serving the community through NCE.
Their family life reflects the same values that shape the organisation itself: faith, unity, and service — a household standing together behind a shared calling to their community.

In His Own Words
A Message From Pastor Euclide Mugisho Mushengezi
In order for the whole world to become truly equal, it must begin with education. If everyone had the same educational opportunities, there would be less gaps in social classes.
